Gilbert & Sullivan Shows

There are fourteen G&S Shows:

  • Thespis – This opera opened December 26, 1871, at the Gaiety Theatre and ran for 64 performances.
  • Trial by Jury – This opera opened March 25, 1875 at the Royalty Theatre and ran for 300 performances.
  • Sorcerer – This opera opened November 7, 1877 at the Opera Comique and ran for 178 performances.
  • H.M.S. Pinafore – This opera opened May 28, 1878, at the Opera Comique and ran for 571 performances.
  • Pirates of Penzance – This opera had its premiere on December 31, 1879, at the Fifth Avenue Theater in New York with Arthur Sullivan conducting. It opened on April 3, 1880, at the Opera Comique in London and ran for 363 performances.
  • Patience – This opera opened April 23, 1881 at the Opera Comique and ran for 578 performances at both the Opera Comique and Savoy Theatres.
  • Iolanthe – Opened November 25, 1882, at the Savoy Theatre and ran for 400 performances.
  • Princess Ida – This opera opened January 5, 1884 at the Savoy Theatre and ran for 246 performances.
  • Mikado – First performed March 14th, 1885 and ran for 672 days.
  • Ruddigore – This opera opened January 21, 1887 at the Savoy Theatre and ran for 288 performances.
  • Yeomen of the Guard – This opera opened October 3, 1888, at the Savoy Theatre and ran for 423 performances.
  • Gondoliers – This opera opened December 7, 1889 at the Savoy Theatre and ran for 554 performances.
  • Utopia Limited – This opera opened October 7, 1893, at the Savoy Theatre and ran for 245 performances.
  • Grand Duke – First performed March 7, 1896, at the Savoy Theatre, London and ran for 123 performances.
